The Globe was a popular theatre in Southwark, London and a lot of William Shakespeare’s plays were performed there. The Globe Theatre is best known for Shakespeare’s involvement in it. His plays at the theatre that were performed got many people interested and drew a large crowd. It was originally built on Thomas Brend’s land built by the Lord Chamberlain’s Men which was Shakespeare’s playing company in 1599. It was burned to the ground during a performance of Shakespeare’s Henry VIII on 29th June 1613, where the roof caught on fire which quickly spread.
